SOFT's client located in Newark, NJ is looking for a Engineer for a long term contract assignment.

• Perform SEL and GE relay setting calculation deliverables. The deliverables should be comprised of:
o SEL and GE setting files (SEL and GE type files)
o Calculation Sheet (Word Document)
o Relay Test Order (Excel Document)
o Relay Test Values and Procedures (Excel Document)
o Relay Front Panel LED’s (Word Document)
• Provide technical support on call and during off-hours in response to relay testing and commissioning phases of projects. Technical support includes being available by phone and email to answer inquires of field personnel regarding SEL and GE relay settings.
• Update ASPEN One Liner software model files in support of SEL and GE relay setting deliverables.
• Review engineering control one lines, relay AC and DC schematics in support of SEL and GE relay setting deliverables.
• Review SEL and GE relay commissioning phasing results.
• Possess working knowledge of Wavewin, ASPEN, Acselerator and Enervista software.
• Possess working knowledge of protective relays including SEL451, SEL487E, SEL351, SEL311L, GEL90, GED60 and line relays, breaker failure relays, cap bank relays, transformer differential relays and other similar relays.

Required

• B.S in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or technical experience
• Minimum of four to Six (6) years of electrical utility experience specifically in system protection and relay settings ;and knowledge of electrical substations and switching stations equipment, e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, medium voltage switchgear, regulators, capacitor banks, disconnect switches and associated electrical system for switching and substations and or outside plant electric distribution and/or transmission systems.
• Working experience in the selection of electrical utility microprocessor based relays, calculation of settings and analyses.
• Candidate must possess knowledge of protective relay schemes and applications.
• Applicant must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, leadership skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and be results-oriented.
• Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills are essential.
• On call 24/7 hours to handle emergency replacement work and assist during system emergency situation.
• Must have a valid driver’s license
