SOFT's client located in Richmond, VA is looking for a AWS Cloud Architect for a Full-Time Role.
  • About the Opportunity National IT Client Services’ Treasury Services Division (TSD) has an immediate opening for a Hosting and Cloud Solutions Architect at either the Senior or Advanced level, to set the architectural direction of internally hosted and brokered hosting solutions (including architectural blueprints) that account for unique Treasury and Federal Government requirements. 
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager – Strategy and Planning, you will develop an enterprise-wide, unified strategy for on-premise hosting and transitioning enterprise IT services to AWS GovCloud-hosted solutions. You will coordinate with product, technical and security teams to analyze and implement best-practices to securely operate enterprise IT resources in the cloud, be a technical expert to enterprise technology project teams, and work with Treasury Services Application Hosting, Information Management, Integration, and Security Services solution owners on full lifecycle management, marketability, roadmap, prioritization, and communication activities.
  • You will also develop architecture blueprints for large multi-system and shared services projects and programs; research new technologies that can provide more efficient and cost effective solutions and build-buy decisions; and oversee multiple projects to preserve the architectural vision, protect stakeholder interests; and promote and educate stakeholders on the use and value of optimized architectures.
What You Will Do
  • Strategy & Planning: 
    • Assist in setting enterprise strategy for cloud transition, hybrid IT and ultimate exit of on-premise environment
      • Work with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and expectations to develop and maintain the strategic direction for the hosting services provided to TSD customers and co-suppliers
      • Translate business goals and end-user needs into product architecture roadmap, including the prioritization of solutions and capabilities, and communicate direction and product priorities
      • Research and use knowledge of new technologies, policy frameworks, control, compliance and assurance packages, and contemporary processes that will protect business applications and infrastructures to recommend solutions 
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for cloud end-to-end and on-premise architecture
  • Delivery & Execution:
    • Work cross functionally with TSD’s Engage, Build, and Run teams and other product solution managers to deliver best in class solutions to customers
    • Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud reference architecture and design patterns as a basis for deploying services to the cloud 
    • Work with build and technical architecture teams on new business development to enhance appropriate products and solutions for the business 
    • Monitor solution project execution and ensure quality, on-time delivery  
  • People & Partnership: 
    • Communicate roadmap solution architecture activities, current and future projects, and project direction to diverse stakeholder groups of customers, architects, and leaders
    • Represents TSD to application teams that will help define future direction around cloud application designs and usage
    • Consult with application teams providing support, education and technical expertise on cloud architecture and consumption patternso Partner with engagement team, solution owners, communications, technical operations, broader National IT domain architecture and design, business development, and other departments to determine of new technologies and to develop new products
    • Work with third-party vendors to ensure their strategic direction aligns with National IT’s direction
Skills
  • Experience as a customer-facing technical lead, including working with both senior management-level executives and development teams
  • Ability to provide thought leadership, strategic solutions, and articulate future state architecture visions
  • Experience developing solutions architecture and evaluating architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, explain business case for each, make recommendations and influence outcomes
  • Knowledge of the Cloud computing stack and Cloud concepts, including continuous integration, pipeline orchestration, containerization, identity and access management, data, security, disaster recovery and resiliency
  • Hands on experience with major DevOps implementations and tool chains – e.g. AWS GovCloud, GIT, Ansible, Jenkins, Cloud Formation, Terraform, EKS, etc.
  • Programming experience in Java/Python
  • Understanding of NIST standards and requirements, and security governance frameworks
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and the basics of IT budgeting• Experience working in a federated, matrixed, and geographically dispersed environment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, closely related study, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience with IT solution delivery, including serving as an architect working on design, implementation, and operations for distributed applications
  • 5+ years of experience with public, private, and hybrid Cloud services that includes planning, development, migration, and integration of applications and services from on-premise infrastructures to Cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service services
  • 5+ years of experience with projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies; knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) preferred
  • Cloud Architect or Solutions Architect certifications preferred
