SOFT's client, located in Melville, NY,  is looking for a Project Controls Planner/Scheduler for a long term contract assignment.  The selected candidate will have 8+ years of experience in schedule management plus experience in Oracle Primavera P6.
 
The Project Controls Scheduler will oversee the schedule management delivery of LNG projects executed by the company’s Complex Construction Team.The successful candidate will provide support to the project execution team with strict adherence to schedule utilizing Primavera P6. The scheduler will monitor, update, and apply project controls techniques to ensure scope and schedule adherence throughout the project.

This is an onsite position that will require daily presence at the engineering office initially and then at the construction site. The project is currently scheduled to be completed in 2027. As a Project Controls Scheduler, you will work with all Project Stakeholders to develop and manage schedules from the Bidding/Proposal phase through Commissioning and Turnover.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Comprehensive understanding of ISO Drawing, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Drawings to quantify the contractual scope of work.
· Develop baseline schedule review documents that identify any missing scope of work, critical submittals identified within the technical specifications, and associating the missing scope to a drawing set or specification section.
· Estimate the scope of work from any change order and develop an analysis of change order durations.
  • Accountable for maintaining project schedules across a portfolio. The schedules will be utilized to support Engineers, Construction Managers, and Project Managers.
  • Progress the project each month to ensure all projects are monitored for project controls in line with the monthly reporting cycle, checking accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Accountable for ensuring schedule data is accurate to allow Project Controls to report milestones, planned value and earned value data, % completed on projects and project commentaries.
  • Provide technical input and project level analysis.
  • Understand sound scheduling logic and the interface of milestones and links between activities.
  • Support the activities of other team members, providing input and analysis as required.
· Develop preliminary master schedule, incorporating `Project Plan` and facilitating successful carry-out of schedule throughout the full life cycle of the project.
· Help teams manage preconstruction planning, design development, Schedule Evaluation , long lead procurement items, construction sequences, startup, testing & commissioning.
· Review any scheduling issues with site staff and determine necessary modifications, re-sequencing schedules when conflicts arise and updating the CPM as required by project specifications.
· Create visual references / diagrams / graphics using schedule data to further describe the project plan, status, and upcoming scopes of work.
· Create variance reports, graphics, and narratives to highlight issues or conflicts. Analyze variances in schedule performance against the plan, and communicate the reasons for the issuance of variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management
· Assist in development of recovery plans, mitigation options, or delay analysis.
· Alert entire project team, including owner, to potential problem areas or deviations from the plan.
· Assess actual progress based on site inspections.
  • Assess impact of design/construction changes and communicate the issues with project owners, executives and staff.
  • Analyze acceleration options and recommend the best cost, lowest risk option.
· Perform Critical Path Analysis.
· Provide interface and quality assurance to Project functional groups and contractors regarding the tracking and reporting of schedule performance.
· Prepares post construction as-built schedules and lessons learned reports.
· Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education
· Education: The Scheduler Candidate shall have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent of eight (8) years of verifiable work experience in a scheduling role.

Required Experience and Skills
  • 8+ years of experience in schedule management
  • Relevant experience in the use of Oracle Primavera Project Management (P6) for the purpose of developing, monitoring, and maintaining the EPC & Integrated Schedule and all required reporting.
  • Relevant experience in construction, planning, scheduling, expediting, and tracking the progress of work for contracts of a similar nature, size, and complexity.
  • Relevant experience preparing baseline schedules and monthly schedule updates in the oil and gas or utility or manufacturing industry.
· General knowledge of construction principles/processes, field operations and ability to read construction plans.
· Experience with delay claims, time extension requests, schedule analysis and subcontractor productivity/limitations.
· The tenacity and drive to inject value and create solutions.

· Ability to use computer-based planning tools and work scheduling systems.
· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
