SOFT's client located in HYBRID - Providence RI onsite 1-2 days/week is looking for a Residential Energy Efficiency Portfolio Analyst for a long term contract assignment.
Our client is a regulated, investor-owned utility. This position will play a primary role in designing and advocating for energy efficiency services that meet the needs and expectations of residential customers in Rhode Island.

Job Purpose
Provide leadership to achieve alignment of internal, regulatory, and stakeholder priorities while maintaining a focus on meeting customer needs and expectations. Apply critical thinking and an understanding of both broad and detailed views to design a cost-effective portfolio of energy efficiency solutions that are innovative, holistic, and accessible for residential customers. Contribute to team delivery of energy and cost savings for customers.

Core Responsibilities
Customer Focus – Work to gain an understanding of customer needs and priorities, including differences that may exist among segments of customers within the residential sector. Apply critical thinking through insight gained via internal/external research, analysis, and best practices in order to design solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Internal Collaboration – Work with several internal teams and vendor partners on a day-to-day basis to design and evolve the portfolio of energy efficiency solutions for residential customers. With an understanding of each team’s expertise and requirements, achieve alignment on planning, development, and implementation as it relates to residential energy efficiency strategies. Make informed, authoritative recommendations regarding the residential energy efficiency portfolio. Seek ways to improve internal processes and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Regulatory Requirements – Develop and maintain relationships with regulators, and key stakeholders involved in the regulatory process. Attend regulatory meetings as necessary, and provide support for regulatory filings and reporting requirements. Negotiate portfolio targets and funding levels with stakeholders, including regulators, local governments, customer groups, environmental organizations, and others. Stay informed of, and assess the potential impact of relevant regulatory and policy developments.

Metrics – Fully understand and track qualitative and quantitative metrics that apply to the energy efficiency portfolio. Metrics include energy savings, budgets/spending, participation, etc. Develop appropriate key performance indicators for residential programs, services, and solutions. Analyze data to find insight into trends that may inform strategies moving forward. Understand the nuances of each metric and how they influence each other.
Industry Engagement – Stay informed of industry best practices, trends, and policies by independent research, outreach, attending conferences/events, and general engagement with industry experts and stakeholders.

General Accountabilities and Tasks

- Develop and maintain a technical understanding of energy efficiency solutions that apply to residential properties.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area (e.g., environmental policy, engineering, economics). Advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with energy policy, industry practices, trends, and legislation
