SOFT's client located in Remote with travel a few times a month in Pennsylvania service area is looking for a Utility Substation Design Engineer for a long term contract assignment. SOFT's customer is looking for a remote (with some local travel) design engineer with ability to be onsite once a month for team meetings and need to travel to sites throughout Pennsylvania a few times a month. Valid drivers license required. Requirements Minimum 5 years utility substation design experience, including Physical/Electrical, Protection/Control and knowledge of associated disciplines including Protection Settings, SCADA, and Civil/Structural. Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively across different work groups. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. Ability to translate complex design concepts into simple concepts for newer engineers. Working knowledge of industry standards, including but not limited to NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc. Preferred Requirements Working knowledge or experience with PPL and/or National Grid legacy substation standards. Responsibilities Lead responsible engineer for oversight of Engineer of Choice (EOC) design projects. Coordinate information among all functional groups and EOCs. Provide feedback from the owner’s perspective on the measure of quality for EOCs. Provide oversight, quality assurance and review of design and engineering packages. Ensure engineering design packages utilize PPL’s established standards and specifications. Support development of engineering schedules and estimates. Review of Substation Change Control (SCC) and approval in PowerBase and perform NERC CIP related tasks including E-CQAL, CIP-11, Commissioning sign-offs, DTD reviews, and ensuring NTDs are generated as required. Coordinate with PPL work groups in response to Requests For Information (RFIs) during development, engineering and construction. Provide support for the procurement of major long-lead equipment required for project execution. Work closely with Project and Contract Management to ensure engineering provides a safe, cost-effective, constructable design which meets all deliverables. |
