SOFT's client needs an Abstract and Survey Consultant for a long term hybrid position working remote and onsite in Harrisburg, PA. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Carlson are required for this role. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1. Knowledge of practical surveying duties 2. Working knowledge and experience in the application of the procedures for checking abstracts of title and the writing of legal deed descriptions and necessary related drawings required with property and R/W work. 3. Background in related mathematics, i.e.: algebra, trigonometry, etc., and its application to survey problems. 4. Knowledge of the operation of available desktop computer and calculator and ability to perform required calculations described as duties in this position. 5. Ability to work alone and without supervision. 6. Ability to use sound judgment in decision making and ability to avoid any disclosure of company confidential materials. 7. Proficient in AutoCAD and Carlson 8. Knowledgeable in GIS data applications, use of LiDAR data and PASDA information. 9. Position will need to be onsite at the Lehigh Service Center for a minimum of 1 day a week. 10. Must be an employee of their current firm for at least one year. PREFERRED SKILL/LICENSE PA licensed individual is preferred but not required. RESPONSIBILITIES 1) Perform abstract and title reviews on property purchased in fee-simple and easements for right of way (R/W). Including, but not limited to: A) Checking exceptions, adverse conveyances, rights of way, restrictions, etc., to see that they will not conflict with the proposed use of the land. B) Analyzing and checking to determine accuracy and completeness as related to the description, option and right of way requirements. 2) Compile necessary information for right of way purchases and easements. 3) Compile necessary information and develop basemaps for transmission right of way development projects. 4) Write descriptions for land or right of way purchases. 5) Assist with plotting of survey information and provide information relative to R/W and property plans required. 6) Check accuracy of drawings prepared for legal files to be recorded with deeds or agreements. 7) Assist, as required, in interpreting aerial photographs, contour maps and survey notes for engineers, draftspersons, etc. 8) Perform courthouse research work as requested (generally performed online). 9) Review survey base maps developed by consultants to ensure accuracy and compliance to standards. 10) Develop scopes of work and requests for proposals to be used by survey vendors to perform and complete work for transmission basemap or right of way projects |
